CEO's Message

There are now only 100 days until your opportunity to attend the greatest  ever Congress for Ultrasound in Medicine – WFUMB2009 in Sydney, Australia.

WFUMB2009 will bring together all the latest facets of ultrasound with  more than 1000 registrants, with the numbers increasing daily

If you are considering attending, there is an added bonus with Hotel room rates decreasing and when you combine cheaper hotel rooms with some of the flight packages available then you will quickly realise what great value for money this Congress will be.

WFUMB09’s program includes over 100 invited speakers bringing the most recent developments in ultrasound together under the one roof - a rare opportunity indeed.  In addition, live scanning workshops and point of care sessions will be a feature.  There are numerous opportunities for hands-on training for all levels of ultrasound operators from beginners to already highly skilled practitioners across the full spectrum of ultrasound practice will be provided.

WFUMB09 will boast the most recent and wide-ranging trade display dedicated to ultrasound ever seen.  Equipment purchasers and planners of imaging businesses, should not forgo this unique opportunity.

Travel Visas

A further reminder for delegates coming from overseas that you do need a visa to enter Australia (except for New Zealanders who require a valid passport only), and as you need to apply for visas well in advance of travel, applications need to be finalised right now as processing can take up to six weeks.

There have been a number of enquiries about invitation letters to participants. If you have registered for the congress as an exhibitor, delegate or presenter and require an invitation letter for the purpose of visa travel approval process, please email
The host society, ASUM, will issue a letter provided that all the required information is supplied to us for notification to the approving Australian department.

A facility for electronically issuing visas, The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) system, is currently available through international travel agents and airlines in over 30 countries including the US, UK, parts of Western Europe, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This system also includes pre-clearance for entry that reduces the time needed to process passengers on arrival.
Your local Australian Embassy or Consulate can advise of the availability.

For non-ETA countries, visas are issued from Australian Embassies and Consulates around the world. In non-ETA countries, we recommend that you apply early for your visa.  For further information, please visit
