Managing Risk

What do a former Major General in the Australian army, an aviation safety adviser and a critical care doctor have in common – they are all invited faculty participating in a Risky Business specialty session during the fifth world congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, which is now just nine weeks away, and will be held in the beautiful Australian tropical resort city of Cairns...

The theme for this year’s meeting is “Beyond the Barrier” and reflects the enormous advances that have occurred over recent years and which reach far ‘beyond the barriers’ of what we believed possible just a few years ago. This will be apparent from the wide ranging program which will cover subjects that are of interest to a numerous disciplines including pediatric cardiology, pediatric anaesthesia, pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac surgery...

A number of presenters whose abstracts have been provisionally accepted have not yet registered. Reminders have been sent out and it is important that all presenters who intend to participate in the meeting register in the next ten days (prior to end of April) after which their abstracts may be withdrawn.

A reminder that delegates coming from overseas need to apply for visas well in advance of their travel. If they require letters of invitation they should contact by email and quote their registration number. We strongly recommend any applications be finalised before the end of April as processing can take up to six weeks and even longer.
