PCCS2009 e-News #4

As a note of interest the US based Newsletter “Congenital Cardiology Today” has produced a special edition publilcising the Congress including extensive details of the program.

Chairman’s Message

The planning for the detailed program has advanced substantially and the speaker's list is almost complete and will be published on the website in the near future - so stay tuned.

The 1400 abstracts have been carefully assessed with more than 180 accepted for oral presentation and well over 1000 for poster presentation.

The Organising Committee welcomes the support of the many groups and societies in different parts of the world some of whom have decided to join the World Congress and to hold their meetings in conjunction with the Congress.

The Association for European Paediatric Cardiology has been extremely supportive and has helped with the development of several of the segments for the meeting – in particular the focus session entitled: “Forty Years of Fontan.”

Notification of successful abstracts has already been distributed to presenting authors and we are pleased with the numbers of registrations for the Congress which are rapidly increasing as we get closer to the deadline for early registration on March 27.

As you would no doubt be aware Australia has experienced some extreme weather conditions over recent weeks, from floods in the north to devastating bushfires in the south, which has been publicised widely around the world. These phenomena are peculiar to our summer months (December to February) and should have no significant impact on the Congress.

We are delighted in the interest from Industry both in terms of sponsorship and commitments to the technical exhibition. Space in the Exhibition area is being sold steadily and any company that wants to book space should do so as soon as possible.
