PCCS2009 e-News #8

Congress Review

The 5th World Congress of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery “Beyond the Barrier” Congress in Cairns was a huge success, thanks to your participation.

The atmosphere was excellent, the feedback has been positive with many delegates impressed with the range of different themes on offer. In fact the most common complaint was that there was too much choice! >>more>>

There is no doubt that highly successful Congresses rely heavily on the participation of industry and PCCS2009 was extremely fortunate to have the support of our main congress sponsors being AGA Medical, Actelion Pharmaceuticals, Medtronic Cardiovascular, St. Jude Medical Australia, Siemens, Abbott Australasia Pty Ltd, NuMed, Inc., Edwards Lifesciences, Cook Australia, GeneraMedix, Occlutech, Atrium.

In all there were 2,290 registrations from 81 countries with the top six represented countries being Australia and New Zealand, USA, Japan, China, Canada and the UK.

However, when the attendance is broken down to regions then Asia was definitely the highest represented region followed by Australasia, North America, Europe, South America and Africa.

The breakdown of registrants was:
Delegates   1894
Professionals   1375
Training Professionals, Technicians, Nurses   519
Accompanying Persons   195
Industry Representatives   201
