PCCS2009 e-News Industry Update

Welcome to this e.Newsletter Industry Update on the 5th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery which will take place from June 21 to June 26 2009.

The theme for the Congress is “Beyond the Barrier” and for the first time we will be incorporating meetings previously organized separately by other societies, into the one event – the logos for those relevant societies can be found next to this editorial. The meeting will attract not only pediatric specialists, surgeons and trainees but also other specialists with an interest in congenital heart disease, anaesthetists, intensivists, technologists and nurses from numerous countries in the developed as well as the developing world.

The Congress will be held in the highly reputed Convention Centre in the Tropical Capital of Australia in Cairns, Queensland.

This Industry Update is to focus attention on the potential for sponsors and exhibitors to ensure they take advantage of this unique prospect. Whilst we are not immune to global credit issues life does go on and there will not be another possibility for four years for your company to exhibit or sponsor such a prestigious event.

The next combined Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery will occur in Cape Town, South Africa in 2013.

There are openings for sponsorship of several two day “Specialty” (incorporated satellite) meetings, display floor, lunch time or evening symposia and electronic poster sessions.

There is a major sponsorship status available for those companies making a significant investment to this vital congress remembering that this meeting of cardiac and pediatric specialist from around the world – only happens every four years.

An enormous range of matters will be covered within the main meeting itself. There will be structured "focus" sessions, each taking half a day, with up to 4 parallel sessions. Each such session will include contributions from different specialty groups, selected abstracts and, in some cases, an invited lecture.

Additional "abstract" sessions will be programmed alongside these sessions. Trainee "master classes" will also occur during the meeting and will be structured to provide an educational introduction relevant to the "focus" sessions programmed for the following day.

The details of this comprehensive program, which includes live transmissions of interventional procedures, can be found on the congress website [please click here].

The Congress is being organised by a combined group of Pediatric Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons from all the Australian and New Zealand centres.

We know many organizations are currently looking at their budgets for the next 12 months and we urge you to think seriously about a commitment to this prestigious event.
