WFO President’s Message

Welcome to this first e. Newsletter through which we seek to keep you up to date with all the developments in the lead up to the 7th International Orthodontic Congress to be held in Sydney in February 2010.

This Congress, hosted by the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), is only held once every five years, brings together the very "best of the best" from all over the world, and this time takes place in one of the most wonderful locations of our planet.

The WFO is grateful to the Australian Society of Orthodontists and the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society for joining the 7th IOC thus maximizing its scientific, political and cultural impact.

Sydney is a spectacular and cosmopolitan city with its beautiful beaches and relaxing, friendly and fun loving people. It has excellent shopping areas with both internationally renowned shops as well as local markets within walking distance from your city hotel.
Anyone who has visited Australia will tell you it is one of the best destinations ever.

Professor Athanasios E. Athanasiou
WFO President

Chairman’s Message

This Congress promises to be unlike any other that you may have attended, staged in a world-class purpose built convention and exhibition centre, right on beautiful Sydney harbour.

We will have a truly international and comprehensive scientific and clinical programmes for doctors with two pre-congress courses and Dwight Damon presenting a one day course before the Congress even begins.

In addition there will be a programme for clinical, front desk and support staff, as well as for orthodontic technicians. Workshops, panel discussions and competitions will make the staff programme particularly interesting and a lot of fun.

There will be a very large industry exhibition hosting companies from all over the world.
With its multicultural background there are world-class restaurants to suit every taste, from five star fine dining to al fresco on the harbour or beachside. Sydney is consistently voted one of the world's 10 most livable cities - come and see for yourself why.

There is also a lot to do and see outside Sydney. Within a few hours drive there are endless beaches, mountains, seaside villages, national parks and more. A short flight from Sydney and you can be at the famous Great Barrier Reef, or in the red centre of the country at Uluru (previously known as Ayers Rock) with its unique desert landscapes, and then a quick journey to the world heritage rainforests in the tropical north or if you prefer the lush green countryside of Tasmania and New Zealand.

Please visit our website and learn more about the Congress, for registration, to organise travel and accommodation, as well as for pre- and post- congress tours at www.wfosydney.com

We are determined that this will be a congress and holiday that you will never forget.
Early registration opens in March and we hope you will come join us for an outstanding week of education and enjoyment.

Chairman
