It is now less than four months before the engineering profession’s major biennial leadership conference ELC 2012 gets underway. Planning is well advanced for the event, which is expected to attract over 600 delegates from around Australia and overseas. As well as a variety of prominent national and international speakers and panellists, ELC 2012 has attracted great interest from the profession, with more than 50 papers and a number of poster presentations accepted from over 80 submissions.
Registration for ELC 2012 has now opened, with early bird prices available until the end of February. Thanks to the support of our conference sponsors, the Organising Committee has once again been able to offer excellent value, with the early bird member registration rate covering the full two day technical program and major social events remaining under $1,000. Discounts for Young Engineers Australia members are also available, while the successful mentoring registration option introduced for ELC 2010 has been retained.
Full details of registration fees, including day registration options and the cost of associated events, are provided on the conference website registration page at www.elc2012.org/register.asp.
In addition to obtaining extra value from early bird registration, delegates wishing to attend the free conference workshops covering development of leadership skills are encouraged to book early, as numbers are limited at these sessions. Pre-conference tours and pre-conference workshops also represent excellent value, with numbers again limited and available on a “first come first served” basis.
Accommodation can also be booked through the on-line registration process. For interstate and international guests, this allows a one-stop-shop approach to conference bookings.
The full technical program, comprising three plenary sessions, 51 submitted papers delivered in three streams over five sessions, five conference workshop sessions and four poster presentation opportunities, has now been published on the conference program page of the conference website at www.elc2012.org/grid.asp.
A comprehensive list of presenters, demonstrating the high calibre of papers and posters expected at the conference, can be separately viewed at www.elc2012.org/presenters.asp.
As an added feature, all abstracts are listed in a searchable format at www.elc2012.org/abstracts.asp, allowing potential delegates to construct a highly tailored program from the available speakers.
While the speaker program for ELC 2012 is full, the Organising Committee is pleased to announce that additional poster presentation opportunities have been made available. Using the latest in large screen displays, all poster presenters will be allocated a “mini presentation” time during morning and afternoon tea periods for a facilitated discussion about their poster. This will enable a valuable extra contribution by those presenters who could not be fitted into the main program and will considerably enhance the overall technical program. All posters will be on display electronically throughout the conference and will be downloadable for all delegates.
If you are interested in preparing a poster, email email@example.com for more information. But hurray, as poster abstracts will need to be submitted by 15 March 2012, with the full electronic poster completed by 30 April 2012.
Following the earlier announcement of Leighton Contractors as a major sponsor of ELC 2012, leading private industry and government organisations continue to join the list of conference sponsors and supporters. The Organising Committee welcomes the following organisations:
Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure
||Leed Engineering and Construction
These new sponsors and supporters join the existing list of leading organisations supporting the conference through sponsorship and the industry showcase. All delegates and potential delegates are encouraged to visit sponsor websites through the logo links in this email and on the conference website.
Further sponsorship packages are still available for ELC 2012, particularly covering technical sessions, workshops and pre-conference tours. These provide organisations with highly cost effective exposure to delegates and the broader engineering community. To register your interest, contact the conference administrator or email the Organising Committee Chair, John Olson, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, a number of delegate scholarships and young engineer mentor packages will be offered for ELC 2012, providing free conference registration and (in the case of the scholarships) domestic airfares and accommodation to enable attendance at the conference for remote based or otherwise disadvantage engineering professionals. Details of how to apply for award of a scholarship or mentor package will be emailed next week to delegates and potential delegates who have registered their interest in attending the conference, and will also be published via our Engineering Leadership Community social media groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. Make sure you join one of our ELC social media groups for further updates on the availability of scholarships and mentor packages.
We will continue to provide further conference updates over the following months and look forward to again presenting an insightful and robust conference agenda.
