The ELC 2012 Organising Committee is pleased to announce Leighton Contractors as a major sponsor of next year’s Engineering Leadership Conference. ELC 2012, hosted by the Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management and Young Engineers Australia, is scheduled for 30th May to 2nd June next year at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Leighton Contractors is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Leighton Holdings Group. As one of Australia and New Zealand's leading contractors, service providers and project developers, Leighton Contractors employs over 12,000 people and has operations which span mining, resources, construction, telecommunications, energy, infrastructure investment and facility management.
||The commitment of Leighton Contractors as a major sponsor and their ongoing interest in leadership development clearly demonstrates the positive benefits which sponsorship of the Engineering Leadership Conference offers and we are very appreciative of their support and commitment.
The deadline for submission of abstracts has now closed. We received a total of 80 abstracts – a very impressive range, with the calibre at a very high level. A review of all submissions against the conference sub themes has been completed and all authors will be notified of the results within the next week.
Over 50 submitted papers will now be presented on a broad range of topics during the course of the conference, in addition to addresses from our keynote and invited speakers.
Just as a reminder, the theme for ELC 2012 is “Passing the Baton – Engineering Australia’s Future”, while the sub themes are:
Pathways to Leadership. Exploring leadership training programs and career pathways which focus on technical leadership, project management or business leadership.
Transitions in Leadership. Covering career gateways and their implications. Exploring transitions between different careers or transitions into and out of leadership positions, as well as acknowledging the difference in leadership experiences between businesses.
Engineering Leadership in Industry. Encompassing engineering leadership and management in industry including groupings such as mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, defence and consulting.
Engineering a Better Society. Exploring engineering leadership and management in environmental and human endeavours, at both a global and regional level.
In addition to Leighton Contractors becoming a major sponsor for the conference, the organising committee is pleased to announce additional commitments from the following organisations as sponsors and supporters:
Bronze Sponsor: Engineering Education Australia
Supporters: SAI Global and Engineering Leaders
These new sponsors and supporters join a growing group of leading organisations including Defence Materiel Organisation and DORIC as gold sponsors, ASC and Parsons Brinckerhoff as silver sponsors, and ARTC, HDS Australia and KBR as conference supporters.
The organising committee is thrilled to have so many organisations as sponsors and supporters of ELC 2012 – their interest and ongoing commitment to the profession is paramount to supporting the conference and its theme of Passing the Baton – Engineering Australia’s Future.
Registration details for ELC 2012 are currently being finalised and will be published on the conference website by the end of October. Registration for the conference officially opens on November 1st.
Please check the conference website regularly for early bird registration fees and updates to the conference program. Available positions for the pre-conference workshops, pre-conference tours and conference workshops are limited, so early registration is recommended.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, a number of delegate scholarships and young engineer mentor packages will be offered for ELC 2012. These packages will provide free conference registration and (in the case of the scholarships) domestic airfares and accommodation to enable attendance at the conference for remote based or otherwise disadvantaged engineering professionals. Details of how to apply for a scholarship or mentor package will only be advised to delegates and potential delegates who have registered their interest in attending the conference. If you haven't already done so, sign up for further details using the "Register Interest" tab on the conference website or by joining one of our Engineering Leadership Community social media groups on LinkedIn or Facebook.
We will continue to provide further conference updates over the following months and look forward to again presenting an insightful and robust conference agenda.
