ATTENTION: ELC 2010 DELEGATES AND ELC 2012 POTENTIAL DELEGATES
Welcome to the first edition of our proposed monthly delegate newsletter, covering activities leading up to the 2012 Engineering Leadership Conference. ELC 2012 will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, Australia from 30 May to 2 June next year.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to thank you for attending ELC 2010 and/or registering your interest in attending ELC 2012. Under the conference theme of “Passing the Baton – Engineering Australia’s Future”, ELC 2012 is expected to provide an exciting and challenging forum in which engineering leadership issues affecting our profession and the contribution of our profession to industry and society can be openly debated. Those of you who attended ELC 2010 would also agree that the biennial Engineering Leadership Conference is a great opportunity for networking amongst other leading engineering professionals.
In case you missed our general email to all Engineers Australia members, or are not on the Engineers Australia membership list, the remainder of this email repeats our “Call for Abstracts”. I apologise to those who have already read our previous email, but we didn’t want you to miss this important announcement.
I look forward to continuing my monthly communications with you as we lead up to ELC 2012. Future delegate newsletters will include special announcements on speakers, workshop presenters and social activities, as well as covering related events planned in the lead up to the conference. There will also be a number of delegate scholarships and mentoring packages offered later in the year, which will be announced through this newsletter.
In the meantime, I value your feedback and suggestions for the conference. Feel free to email me at email@example.com. I also encourage you to join our “Engineering Leadership Community” social media sites on LinkedIn and Facebook, then post comments or start your own discussion. Visit our conference website www.elc2012.org for more details.
I look forward to seeing many of you at ELC 2012.
Chair, ELC 2012 Organising Committee
The spirit of the 2010 conference and its outcomes have paved a path to this coming conference theme:
Passing the Baton – Engineering Australia's Future
As emerging leaders learn and develop their skills based on the experience of others, the growth of our industry relies more and more on substantial and robust business events such as the Engineering Leadership Conference.
We are currently calling for abstracts for the conference on the following sub themes:
Pathways to Leadership. Exploring leadership training programs and career pathways which focus on technical leadership, project management or business leadership.
Transitions in Leadership. Covering career gateways and their implications. Exploring transitions between different careers or transitions into and out of leadership positions, as well as acknowledging the difference in leadership experiences between businesses.
Engineering Leadership in Industry. Encompassing engineering leadership and management in industry including groupings such as mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, defence and consulting. We also encourage abstract submissions focussing on transformative, regulatory and production processes.
Engineering a Better Society. Exploring engineering leadership and management in environmental and human endeavours, at both a global and regional level.
Please refer to the website for abstract submission guidelines.
